Forest Bathing enhances natural killer cells

Visiting a forest can induce a significant increase in both the number and activity of natural killer cells, one of the ways our body fights off cancer.

As if you need more reasons to get outside and enjoy the spring, researchers discovered a significant boost in natural killer cell activity in both men and women after spending a day walking in the forest. And what's even more amazing is that the boost lasted for over a week after the walk. Which means if you walked in the forest once a week for a month your natural killer cell activity will stay boosted for the entire month!

While getting outside for a walk is always a plus for your overall health, if you have access to the woods you might want to consider them over your neighborhood or the city because the study showed an 80% boost in natural killer cell activity walking in the forest, compared to only a 10% bump walking in the city.

Grab your raincoat and see you in the forest!
